People on the Move: Christie's elevates 2 execs to president
Former president Chris Lim moves into an advisory role, while EVPs Natalie Hamrick and Kevin Van Eck will share the top leadership position.
Editor's note: As an industry with millions of agents and over 100,000 brokerage companies, new leaders rise to the top every day. Here we highlight executives and other notable leaders who've recently taken on, or stepped away from, roles that influence the residential real estate landscape.
Two leaders at Christie's International Real Estate will now share the role of president, replacing former president Chris Lim as he moves into a senior advisory role at the company.
Natalie Hamrick and Kevin Van Eck will be co-presidents at Christie's, with Hamrick in charge of affiliate services and Van Eck leading affiliate strategy.
Hamrick, who has been with Christie's International Real Estate for 13 years, was previously executive vice president of the Americas. Van Eck joined @properties in 2008 and was most recently executive vice president of innovation and education for Christie's.
The duo is moving into the role held by Lim, who had been president of the company since December 2021. Along with Co-CEOs Thad Wong and Mike Golden, Lim, Hamrick and Van Eck helped facilitate @properties' acquisition of Christie's in 2021.
The co-leadership arrangement is a familiar one for the company, as @properties has been led by two CEOs who have shared duties for 21 years.
"Much like Mike and I, Natalie and Kevin have very complementary skills. Not only is Natalie exceptional in marketing, client relations and affiliate service; she also has a deep understanding of Christie's. Meanwhile, Kevin is equally talented when it comes to our pl@tform technology, coaching, training, and recruiting. I'm confident this will be a case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts," said Wong in a news release.
In one other move, the company hired Nidhal Charfi as vice president of affiliate expansion. Charfi is the former senior director of sales and strategic growth for Compass and was a founding member of the brokerage's strategic growth team.
Since its acquisition by @properties in late 2021, Christie's International Real Estate has added independent brokerage firms in major U.S. markets including New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area and other cities. The brand has also expanded internationally with new affiliates in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan, Estonia, Malta, Belgium, and the Caribbean.
At World Properties, which encompasses the @properties and Christie's brands, reported more than $15 billion in sales volume in 2022.
