NAHREP launches construction-focused organization, names CEO

In order to help drive new business to and support Hispanic and Latino professionals in the construction industry, the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) announced today that it has formally launched the National Hispanic Construction Alliance (NHCA) trade organization.

The effort will be led by veteran trade association executive George Carrillo, who has been named CEO of the NHCA. Carrillo was previously the executive director of LatinoBuilt, an Oregon-based construction trade association. Carrillo also held roles in healthcare and human services organizations following a career in law enforcement and the Marine Corps, according to his LinkedIn profile

NAHREP sees a big opportunity to bolster Latino workers during a period of strong demand for housing and need for labor in the construction industry. Latinos already have a major presence in the industry: A Labor Department report referenced in the news release indicates Hispanic workers comprise nearly 28% of the workforce in construction but just 18.5% of the overall US workforce. However, there is still a major labor shortage in the industry, NAHREP noted.

Carillo said his new organization can play an important role in addressing that workforce shortage. "Strengthening the role of the Latino contractor is essential to addressing labor shortfalls in the home builder industry and the housing industry in general," he said.

Real taps capital markets veteran for investor relations role

The Real Brokerage has hired a new exec who will study capital markets and bolster shareholder value. Ravi Jani was recently named VP of Investor Relations and Financial Planning & Analysis, and will report to Michelle Ressler, Real's Chief Financial Officer.

"Jani's deep understanding of capital markets and unique buy-side perspective make him an invaluable asset to our company as we continue to drive profitable growth and create long-term value for our shareholders by pairing best-in-class technology with the trusted guidance of the agent-led experience," Real CFO Michelle Ressler said in the announcement.

Real reported strong growth in Q2, increasing revenue by 65% year-over-year and doubling its agent count.
