Editor's note: As an industry with millions of agents and over 100,000 brokerage companies, new leaders rise to the top every day. Here we highlight executives and other notable leaders who've recently taken on roles that influence the residential real estate landscape.

Compass cuts COO role; Greg Hart leaving at the end of the year

Compass is eliminating the role of Chief Operating Officer, which means that current COO Greg Hart will be departing the company as of Dec. 31.

The move was revealed via an SEC filing and comes after a year of losses and cost-cutting.

Hart joined Compass in April 2020 after more than 23 years with Amazon, including two years in the coveted role of tech adviser/informal chief of staff to Jeff Bezos.

"Compass is unlike any other company in real estate or technology," Hart said at the time, calling the opportunity to serve "this massive customer group" — real estate agents — "the natural next step for me."

Compass initially brought Hart on board as chief product officer, which meant he oversaw the work of building the tech platform that Compass has staked its reputation on. Hart became COO in May 2022, a role that "unfortunately has become redundant" now that the tech platform is essentially complete, according to BTIG analyst Soham Bonsle.

Collabra names chief revenue officer

Real estate marketing and analytics company Collabra Technology has hired its first chief revenue officer, Scott Feldman.

Feldman joins the firm as it looks to expand its reach with digital marketing products for brokerages and MLSs including SphereBuilder, a digital marketing platform introduced in March, and AdBuilder, which was adopted by Bright MLS in a deal this fall.

"We have lofty aspirations to make SphereBuilder and AdBuilder household names in real estate, and now is the perfect time to bring in a unique talent like Scott to lead that effort," said Russ Cofana, Collabra president and CEO.

Most recently the head of sales at Plunk, an AI-powered property valuation provider, Feldman has a multi-decade career in sales leadership roles. Prior to Plunk, he was VP of business development at HomeSpotter, which was later acquired by Lone Wolf, and he previously held senior positions at companies spanning multiple industries.

"Scott brings a combination of a deep understanding in the digital marketing and advertising space and a successful track record building 'know-like-trust' relationships across the industry," said Cofano.

"I hope to help brokers help their agents find leads for themselves, stay connected with the people they already know, find new prospects, and help them understand how their SphereIndexTM score can illuminate where to focus their efforts," Feldman said.
