As residents in the Southeast continue to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Keller Williams is assisting its agents through cash grants and donations of power generators.

Donations: As of Sept. 30, KW Cares — the brokerage company's nonprofit arm that serves KW associates and their families in times of crisis — has sent more than 450 generators to agents in North and South Carolina, and about 25 to associates in Florida. It has also issued 50 grants to immediately address lodging, food and health needs of agents impacted by the hurricane, said Alexia Rodriguez, CEO of KW Cares.

Rodriguez expects the number of grants to increase as more agents get access to power, internet and phone service.

"The road to recovery will be long, and KW Cares is committed to supporting agents in these areas as they rebuild their lives and communities," Rodriguez said.

Other real estate brokerages, including RE/MAX and Anywhere Real Estate, have opened up relief portals to raise funds for sales associates and employees affected by the hurricane.

Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae assistance: Disaster relief options are also available for homeowners and renters impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Those services include providing mortgage assistance or suspending mortgage payments for up to 12 months. Details can be found on the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac websites.
