Zillow president steps down, company names new COO
President Susan Daimler is departing after 12 years at the company, while SVP Jun Choo moves into the C-suite.
Zillow announced some key leadership changes on Nov. 14, including the departure of two longtime executives.
President steps down: Susan Daimler, who has been with Zillow for 12 years and was appointed president in 2021, is leaving the company, Zillow announced in a news release. Matt Daimler, her husband and a senior vice president of product, has also resigned.
The Daimlers joined the company in 2012 when Zillow acquired Buyfolio, a startup Susan founded in 2006. She subsequently led operations in New York as SVP and general manager of StreetEasy and Zillow NYC, then headed up the company's Premier Agent business before moving into the role of president.
She has been a prominent voice for the company, recently speaking out against private listing networks, and has been recognized as a top industry leader, ranking 24th among the 200 most influential leaders in residential real estate in the 2024 Swanepoel Power 200.
In a statement, Susan Daimler described her time at Zillow as "more than we could have imagined when we joined the company 12 years ago," adding: "Now, we're ready for our next adventure and we'll always be cheering for the team and company we have loved so much."
"We're grateful for both Susan and Matt's many contributions and leadership over the last 12 years," said Zillow CEO Jeremy Wacksman. "They've each had a tremendous impact on Zillow's growth and success and we wish them all the best."
A new COO: The company also announced the promotion of Jun Choo to chief operating officer. Choo fills the position vacated by Wacksman, who became CEO in August after co-founder Rich Barton stepped down from the position (Barton remains with the company as executive chair).
Choo joined Zillow in 2015 through the company's acquisition of Trulia. He was most recently senior vice president of real estate software, overseeing Zillow Premier Agent sales, ShowingTime, dotloop, Zillow Showcase, Aryeo and other B2B products. In his new role, he will drive Zillow's business strategy and operations.
"Jun has long been an instrumental leader in our company, consistently creating and scaling innovative solutions across our business," said Wacksman. "He has been a key driver of our numerous technology investments to digitize the industry. Under his leadership, we will expand the integrated transaction experience to more customers — agents, movers, and industry professionals — and offer them a better way to transact in real estate."
Susan Daimler also expressed her support for Choo's promotion: "We've worked with Jun for a long time and we're excited to see him in this new role."
For his part, Choo said he's honored to step into the role and continue supporting the company's growth.
"Our industry software offerings are unmatched and we will continue to invest in new solutions that help modernize the real estate experience through Zillow's housing super app," Choo said.
In conjunction with the other moves announced today, Christopher Roberts will take over leadership of the product organization. Roberts was an early employee at the company, joining in 2006.
