People on the Move: KW appoints growth leader; NTREIS CEO to retire
Team and franchise leader Shanan Steere named director of growth operations for KW; John Holley, CEO of Texas' largest MLS, retiring after 20 years.
Editor's note: As an industry with millions of agents and over 100,000 brokerage companies, new leaders rise to the top every day. Here we highlight executives and other notable leaders who've recently taken on, or stepped away from, roles that influence the residential real estate landscape.
Longtime KW franchise leader named growth director
Shanan Steere, a team owner, franchise operator and 27-year real estate veteran, has been appointed director of growth operations at Keller Williams Realty.
Steere began her career as an agent in 1997, joining the Keller Williams family in 2004 before launching her own KW franchise in Kansas a year later. She also has a background in coaching and training, serving as a KW MAPS coach and BOLD instructor.
In her new growth-focused role, Steere will apply her coaching skills to help other franchise owners grow their businesses through leadership training and recruiting, and she will facilitate mastermind groups with team leaders and operating principals — both roles she has held during her time with Keller Williams.
The appointment aligns with KW's commitment to develop its market center leaders, said President and CEO Mark Willis, who called Steere "an exceptional talent" who can help KW's "core brokerage leaders remain equipped to fuel expansion and build on our already strong culture." Willis has previously referred to KW as "a training and consulting company that happens to own proprietary technology," emphasizing the company's focus on growth through recruiting and agent education.
"I firmly believe that KW is the best company for agents and leaders in this industry," said Steere. "Team leaders are the cornerstones of our market centers," said Steere. "They provide the best opportunity to positively change the lives of agents, succeeding through others and helping them achieve extraordinary results."
CEO of Texas' largest MLS to retire after 20 years
John Holley, CEO of North Texas Real Estate Information Systems (NTREIS), will be stepping down at the end of January after two decades with the organization.
Holley took on the top role at Dallas-based NTREIS nearly 20 years ago, overseeing the expansion of the MLS from 19,000 subscribers in 2005 to more than 53,000 today, with a subscriber base spanning 44 counties across North Texas and parts of Louisiana, the company said in a news release.
NTREIS is currently the sixth-largest MLS in the country and the largest in Texas, according to the 2024 Real Estate Almanac.
Described as a "visionary" leader with "a steadfast commitment to innovation," Holley led NTREIS during a time of rapid technological change in real estate. "John Holley's exemplary leadership has shaped NTREIS into the robust, trusted resource it is today," said Linda Callicutt, NTREIS president. "His commitment to innovation and service has been instrumental in supporting our subscribers and their clients throughout the region. His influence will be felt for years to come, and he leaves a legacy of excellence and vision."
The MLS is currently working with a search firm to identify Holley's replacement.
