Sharran Srivatsaa on why he’s leaving role as Real president
“I believe that Real needs me in a bigger capacity right now,” Srivatsaa told Real Estate News. The brokerage announced March 12 that he is moving to the board.
Quickly growing Real Brokerage hit a number of major milestones in 2024, seeing its agent count nearly double for the second year in a row and its annual revenue top $1 billion for the first time in the company's ten-year history.
Helping propel the company forward was its charismatic president, Sharran Srivatsaa, who frequently hosted agent training sessions and weighed in on industry discussions of topics ranging from productivity to compassion during a tumultuous time for real estate professionals and consumers.
But after two stellar years, Real announced in March that Srivatsaa would be leaving his day-to-day role in brokerage operations and instead join the board of directors.
Why now? "I believe that Real needs me in a bigger capacity right now," Srivatsaa told Real Estate News over email.
"The real estate industry is going through a massive transformation as we have seen in jam-packed headlines every week, and there is no better time for me to step up and serve as 'the agent's voice' on our board in advising how we shape our strategy and vision as we continue to build the platform of the future."
Srivatsaa had previously spoken at length about the future of the residential real estate brokerage, emphasizing the fusion of tech, collaboration and agent morale as touchstones. "You just can't slap a revenue share model on and then say, 'Yeah, I got it going on!' There's so much more to do, and we have to keep innovating," he told Real Estate News last December.
'A collaborative decision' to make this move: Srivatsaa also said that he and Real Brokerage co-founder and CEO Tamir Poleg "have had a very close relationship since Day 1," adding that "it was a collaborative decision" for Srivatsaa to move from his president position to the board.
What's next? As for his immediate future, Srivatsaa said that he has "no plans to work with another real estate company" as he is "still delivering on the promises made at Real" but added that he does "miss working with the top influencers in the world and doing private equity."
When looking back on his accomplishments over the last two years, Srivatsaa said that he is most proud of the culture that he helped foster at Real.
"There has never been a company in our industry that was built on the ethos of 'Work Hard and Be Kind' [to the extent that] even our branded apparel was replaced by just wearing the Work Hard Be Kind mantra itself."
