eXp’s Glenn Sanford assumes new leadership role
Glenn Sanford, founder and CEO of eXp World Holdings, will step in as CEO at eXp Realty, the cloud-based brokerage.
Key points:
- Jason Gesing moves from his post as eXp Realty CEO to a leadership role at eXp’s global holding company.
- The changes cap a year of leadership appointments at eXp World Holdings and its companies.
- “We are laser-focused on driving exponential growth and innovation across eXp Realty and the industry,” Sanford said.
Glenn Sanford, chief executive officer of eXp World Holdings Inc., is adding a second CEO title at the global real estate company: eXp Realty CEO.
Sanford said in a statement Tuesday that the C-suite change better positions the company to drive growth in a challenging market.
"I'm excited to be the hands-on leader for the next period of growth for the company," Sanford said Tuesday, when eXp announced the change. The company said that Sanford's focus will be to "drive the next phase of growth while iterating on the agent value proposition."
The change marks another swap in roles: Jason Gesing, who joined eXp in 2010, took over the CEO role from Sanford in 2019. Gesing will move into an expanded position as chief relations officer at eXp World Holdings, which is based in Washington State. In his new role, Gesing will focus on growing the company across key sectors during a challenging time in the real estate market, eXp said in a statement.
"We are laser-focused on driving exponential growth and innovation across eXp Realty and the industry," Sanford said. "Our model was designed to withstand varying market conditions, and we continue to have the most agent-centric model in the industry. This uniquely positions us to continue investing in our future and iterating on our industry-leading agent value proposition."
Sanford noted that as the incoming eXp Realty CEO, he will build upon Gesing's achievements forging industry relationships. He also emphasized the importance of Gesing's new role at the holding company to "optimize emerging technologies that will shape the future."
eXp Realty is a global online brokerage. The company offers stock options and revenue sharing to its agents.
eXp World Holdings is the corporate umbrella for eXp Realty; Virbela, a 3D communications platform; and SUCCESS Enterprises, developer of media channels enhanced by immersive technologies. eXp Realty, which is cloud-based, uses the Virbela platform as a tool for agents.
For the third quarter 2022, revenues at eXp World Holdings increased 11% from the prior year and agent count was up 30%, the company reported.
The latest announcement culminates a year of leadership changes to drive growth.
At eXp Realty in 2022, Leo Pareja was named chief strategy officer; Michael Valdez, chief growth officer; and Patrick O'Neill, chief operating officer.
At eXp World Holdings, Shoeb Ansari was named chief information officer last year.
A series of leadership appointments at SUCCESS included Courtney Keating named chief operating officer (in addition to her role as CMO at eXp World Holdings); Jairek Robbins tapped as president and chief strategy officer; and Tristan Ahumada appointed chief marketing officer.
