New CEOs at Peerage, NTREIS; NAHREP president installed
Peerage, the No. 10 brokerage by sales volume, names Tara Brown as CEO. Texas’ largest MLS also gets a new leader, and Oralia Herrera begins her term at NAHREP.
Editor's note: As an industry with millions of agents and over 100,000 brokerage companies, new leaders rise to the top every day. Here we highlight executives and other notable leaders who've recently taken on, or stepped away from, roles that influence the residential real estate landscape.
Peerage elevates Sotheby's leader to CEO role
One of the largest private brokerage companies has named a new leader. Peerage Realty Partners, a luxury firm with controlling interests in multiple brokerages in the U.S. and Canada, appointed Tara Brown as CEO following the retirement of Gavin Swartzman.
"We are fortunate to have someone of Tara's calibre to take the helm of Peerage Realty Partners as Gavin retires," Peerage Capital Executive Chair Miles Nadal said in a news release. "It speaks to our deep bench strength as an organization, and it ensures our momentum will continue seamlessly."
Brown, a business executive with two decades of leadership experience across multiple industries, joined the firm nearly a year ago as president of Peerage Group Sotheby's International Realty. She will retain that role in addition to overseeing the combined brokerage group as CEO.
"I am truly excited about partnering with all the exceptional leaders across Peerage Realty Partners, building with our passionate teams, and supporting the dedicated advisors across North America as we embark on the next phase of growth," Brown said, adding that it was a "privilege" to move into the leadership position "at such a pivotal time in the real estate industry."
Peerage ranked No. 10 on the newly released Mega 1000 list of top U.S. brokerage firms with a sales volume of nearly $25 billion in 2024, according to T3 Sixty. (Note: Real Estate News is an editorially independent division of T3 Sixty.)
Chicagoland broker/owner installed as 2025 NAHREP president
Oralia Herrera has officially begun her term as president of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, an organization focused on advancing Hispanic homeownership through advocacy and education.
Herrera is a longtime NAHREP board member, serving both nationally and at the local level in Chicago, where she founded the North Chicago chapter (now NAHREP DuPage). She began her real estate career 35 years ago and currently owns and operates Century 21 TK Realty based in Addison, Illinois.
"I am deeply honored and humbled to take on this new leadership role with NAHREP," Herrera said in a news release. "Having been part of this incredible organization for many years, I am excited to continue working alongside our members to advance opportunities for Hispanic professionals in the real estate industry."
Herrera isn't the first — or last — Century 21 agent to land the leadership role at NAHREP. She takes over for 2024 President Nora Aguirre, a team leader at Century 21 Americana in Nevada, and she will be succeeded by 2026 President-Elect Edwin Acevedo, an agent at Century 21 Lotus in Los Angeles.
"As NAHREP celebrates 25 years of leading the charge with the Hispanic community, the Century 21 brand shares in its mission of advancing opportunities for Hispanics within the real estate market," said Mike Miedler, C21 president and CEO. "Especially in today's climate, it is so important to have organizations and brands out there advocating for access and resources that enable all communities to achieve that dream of homeownership," Miedler added.
NTREIS welcomes new CEO
The largest MLS in Texas will soon have a new leader. North Texas Real Estate Information Systems, a Dallas-based MLS with 53,000 subscribers, announced that Chris Carrillo will join the organization as CEO effective June 1. Carrillo steps into the position previously held by John Holley, who retired in January after 20 years as NTREIS CEO.
Carillo is a veteran MLS leader, most recently serving as CEO of Wisconsin's Metro MLS, a position he held for 14 years. He also sits on the Council of MLS Board of Directors, an organization he chaired in 2019, and has engaged in local and national advocacy efforts.
"I am truly honored to have been selected and excited for the opportunity to lead NTREIS through this dynamic period of change and opportunity," Carillo said in a news release.
"I look forward to collaborating with our shareholders, directors, and staff to address the industry's current needs and shape innovative solutions with a shared vision to guide our marketplace forward."
